Life is not measured by the breaths we take... but by the moments that take our breaths away.

At Celebration Yard Sign, we believe every special moment deserves to be celebrated in a big, joyful way—right on your front lawn! Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or new baby, we’re here to help you make memories that last a lifetime.
But our story is about more than just yard signs. It’s rooted in something much deeper.
I retired from the retail automobile business fifteen years ago, 50 years in one industry was enough. I started washing cars while I was in high school and then worked in almost every position available including owning my own consignment used car lot on North avenue in the 1980s.
And yes, doing the math on that does signify I am an old man. You might be curious as to with a Grumpy old man would venture out of retirement.
My wife, Madeline, and I got married early, 20 years old while we were sophomores at Ohio University. We had three kids in quick succession and had the normal up and down, busy, chaotic life filled with challenges and a lot of love. Looking back, I can say without a doubt that the best decision I ever made was marrying Madeline.
On our 25th wedding anniversary, we were finally able to take our long overdue honeymoon, a beautiful week in Cozumel that was a dream come true.
But just a few months later in a blink of an eye, our lives changed forever. Madeline suffered a massive stroke. We were told she wouldn’t live through the night.
She did.
They told us again the next night that she wouldn’t survive.
She did.
When she was finally released from the hospital, she was paralyzed on her right side, unable to speak, and completely dependent on others. Doctors told us she would never walk, talk, or care for herself again and my best option was to place her in a long-term care facility.
But Madeline was a fighter.
She learned how to walk, talk (50-word vocabulary), drive, and take care of herself. It was a long and difficult battle, but she never gave up. Her strength and understanding that life was a precious gift allowed her to live another 27 years. During these years, her determination and drive was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Why We Celebrate
Through her recovery, I also gained a deep understanding of just how precious life is and how important it is to celebrate the moments that matter. Madeline and I would spend hours looking through photo albums, reminiscing, crying and laughing about milestones, birthdays, holidays and time with friends and family.
Those memories kept us going.
Celebration Yard Sign is all about, spreading joy, marking milestone memories, and helping you and your loved ones celebrate life one yard at a time. These thoughts and memories are why I came out of retirement to start Celebration Yard Signs with my good friend Mike.
